Job Title Cork Services Regional Manager

Threshold is a registered charity whose aim is to secure a right to housing, particularly for households experiencing the problems of poverty and exclusion. We now seek to appoint a Cork Regional Service Manager who will manage and develop the services for the entire Southern region of Ireland to meet the housing needs of clients.

Based in Cork the role will:

  • Lead and manage fifteen employees, including three direct reports.
  • Provide support and supervision that enables managers to deal with HR related issues. These will include training and development, recruitment of assistant managers and feeding into HR policy and procedures nationally.
  • Nurture and develop strong collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attend relevant groupings with appropriate local council bodies, NGOs, Research Institutions and the local media.
  • Manage service provision including the Access Housing Unit in Cork, advocacy and the protection of tenancies and tenants' rights.
  • Work with landlords and The Residential Tenancies Board.
  • Support service users in challenging settings regarding housing problems.
  • Be responsible for financial management and annual budget. Also responsible for facilities, information and IT management and similar support systems.
  • Contribute to organisational management which includes participation in the Senior Management Team, the chairing of regional staff meetings and the production of regular standardised reports, case studies and statistics for the Board.
  • Ensure the organisation is compliant in safeguarding, health and safety, data protection and other regulatory requirements of service.
  • Monitor the housing environment within Munster and develop local outreach services where appropriate.
  • Support the development of housing policy in conjunction with the Policy Officer, Legal Officer and CEO.
The Person:

  • Be educated in Social Science, Housing, Property or a similar discipline.
  • Have 3 year's plus experience in a similar management role.
  • Have previous experience within the NGO or property sectors.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the role and its purpose in realising Threshold's mission.
  • Be accessible, approachable, fair and decisive. As a values led individual, be committed to fairness and principles of social justice.
  • Have experience managing and developing teams.
  • Be results driven and have the ability to respond with agility to people's needs.
  • Have experience in engagement with social inclusion and social justice either through current or previous work experience or on a voluntary basis.
  • Be highly flexible and have a "hands-on" approach.
  • Be intuitive, a strong communicator and comfortable with representing the organisation at external events, with relevant bodies and with local media.
  • Have experience in report writing, media, fundraising applications and housing policies.
  • Possess knowledge of governance and general management best practices.
